Intentional questions to ask
Sometimes relationships and friendships can become stagnant. Often times we're often caught up in our own lives that it's really easy to forget to check up and see how our friends are doing in their lives. I realize that as someone who tends to prioritize personal responsibilities it's so easy to keep friendships shallow and never really go anywhere.
And the time I do spend with my friends it's always like "How're you doing", to "good how're you" and that's really it. There's not that much content to conversations because honestly we're not used to doing so?
So I wanted to use the thread as a discussion. In your friendships and in your relationships, what are some intentional questions to ask the other person to get them to talk about you about their lives, their struggles and their joys? Instead of the same old "how're you?"
@sunnyWriting4806 I usually ask questions based on what they might be doing currently whether its school or work. I sometimes ask about their other family members and such.
@sunnyWriting4806 How about "what have you been up to lately" or "what have you been doing for fun lately?" If you ask about their job you can ask follow-ups about how they like it, if they plan to stay there. You could also play a game together.

Those are great suggestions! I think being more specific is a great way to get something out of them especially asking them about what they're doing in their jobs, etc. Also people I think are more willing to talk about what they're doing for fun! So it's a great way for them to open up.

@sunnyWriting4806 Usually when I talk to friends I may not see as much as I like, I will ask about things they are currently doing or their partners or things like that.
"How is work at such and such?"
"How is your boyfriend or girlfriend?"
"How is your accounting class going? I know you mentioned you had an exam coming up!"

I think those are great examples that you gave! I guess asking more about what they're going through instead of asking a more generic question is better to get an answer from them.

@sunnyWriting4806 Yes! I think asking open-ended questions is a really good way to give them the chance to open up a little more! :) Thanks for allowing me to share!
