Is it okay to not have any friends?
Hey! Im kate, 17.
I've been struggling with not having friends for a long time. But everything got a lot harder when this pandemic happened. If before i could try to deny the fact that i dont have any friends, now things are clear as day. People dont talk to me unless i reach out to them first. The people i considered friends are leaving me out of things and sometimes i feel like they treat me like i'm some kind of liability. The littlest things that people do can trigger a wave of negative emotions. I try to control it, but every time it always ends up the opposite way.
On top of that, my mother, for whatever reason is constantly saying things like, oh you don't go out with friends much right? or like, you don't really have many friends right? (thats how she words it, which i find really obscure)
Maybe she's trying to figure those things out? Like she's trying to make sure that that is the case or something? But it truly feels like she's trying to make me feel bad about it since every question will end up with an advice about how i should be more agreeable or something. It makes me really mad.
How should i really feel about not having any friends or bestfriend?
Hi, I'm sorry to hear how difficult it is for you.. it sounds like those are not the right friends for you.. if they are leaving you out, then they are bullies and you're much better without them...I read recently, when you're a true friend to yourself, you'll never feel lonely... really made me think..
