Thanks so much! This was really helpful and an awesome post. It was perfect timing! I've lately been noticing how I subconsciously read other people's unverbalized wishes and expectations of me and how I tend to just do the things that I think the other person wants me to do without thinking about it consciously even... And that sometimes it's not even conscious, it's like an autopilot or something. It dawned on me lately as I was working on boundaries that I wasn't just being polite or deferential; I was continually negating my rights as an equal human being, and casting myself as a second citizen, and i was the one doing it!

The post really had me thinking who those 5 people were through different periods of my life and how it effected my identity. I think it's really interesting how some Western (often patriarchal) literary theories envision the self as solid, independent and continuous, when in actuality, my own experience has shown me that people are probably much more fluid. And the people we are around a lot, we start to ressemble! Eg. we even resemble our dogs and our dogs us! lol
