Lost pretty much every friend

All of my friends are online, met through mutual interests over the last several years which is mostly a specific MMO. I don't have any friends IRL apart from my boyfriend (who currently has to live abroad due to the pandemic).

In the beginning of the year my BF, who is also friends with my friend group, got into an argument with one of them. It was somewhat sorted out (they agreed to just go seperate ways rather than try and be friends again), and now every day it feels like I'm losing more and more friends due to this argument, as well as me deciding to take a step back from that MMO for my own mental health. (I was harassed there, and nothing was done about it so I left the community.)

One friend and I got very rocky because after I left he stopped speaking to me as a friend. He would speak at me, in a tone very much like someone trying to run HR for a company. Very cold, impersonal, not caring much as long as he gets what he wants to say out of the way then leaving. I got upset with him because of this, stopped speaking to him because doing so just caused me anxiety, and now he has his friends messaging me telling me to "just talk to him".

He doesn't care what I have to say, and him using his friends to come to me instead of himself personally really rubs me the wrong way. Just getting messages like that sparks my anxiety. I had to take the night off of work just because of this. If I tell him, he wont care and just focus on getting his bit out before ignoring me.

Now my other friends wont speak to me, if I message them I get ghosted or just a simple 1-word reply then nothing. I don't know what to do any more, if I should just cut my losses and move on or try to salvage this.. I feel like it's not fixable but I just don't know.

Does any one have advice or experience with this sort of thing?

@JupiterLilac

Thank you for sharing. It does sound complicated and difficult. The internet is a strange place, good mixes so easily with challenges. The good of it is that as quickly as it can fall away, you can also rebuild. You did a great job of reaching out here. Keep doing that, find new and exciting experiences. Reach out in new and different ways.

Then see if anyone from this past scene reaches out in a few weeks, or if you have reestablished yourself and you want to make one last check with the old group, then do so tentatively.

I believe in you. You are not alone. There is new different joy on your horizon.
