Need to let go?
My best friend and I have been friends since we were 8. We are both now 20, living in the same area but going to different colleges. I havent seen her in about 2 months, I organised to meet up with her 4 times since before xmas and each time she has come up with some excuse saying she cant meet up. I remember her saying to me before we ever started college that well be friends for life but that seems far from likely at this stage. I suppose wer into different things like she enjoys partying wheras i much more enjoy going for a meal or casual chat in a bar. Is this the reason? or is it the fact shes outgrown the friendship?

Hey there. I know it can be hard to watch old friendships slowly dissapate and fade from your life as you grow older. But it's important to remember that it happens to everyone, and it happens all the time.
I'm sorry you're going through this experience, but just keep in mind that it's okay to let old friends go. Life goes on. Friends will continue to come and go from your life. Maybe some will stay longer than others, but in the end, this process will always occur.
So your best option is to just allow friendships run their course. You can try to fight it, and sometimes that will work for you, but other times, you will just cause yourself more suffering.
Good luck to you, I hope this helped!
@missld5 I'm sorry to hear your friendship is slowly growing apart. Unfortunately in life, people often times think they will be friends forever and than later find that things changed. Just know that this is normal, especially around your age. If the friendship is real, than eventually you two will find your way back later in life. However, at this time I wouldn't force it. At the end of the day, if it hurts you when you try to hang out with her and she comes up with excuses than maybe for the time being you may want to just give her her space. I hope eventually you two will make things right though and become closer than ever. Best of luck <3

Hi. I wish I could tell you what is going on. Having a friend for that long is a special connection and bond and when things start to not work out it can leave us confused and sad. Have you asked your friend? it very well could be that you are in different seasons in your lives and will come back together, but that would require committment and desire from you both. Sometimes relationships just end fo several reasons. Either way I think asking your friend for some clarity and expressing your thoughts and feelings might give you the answers you seek.
