I have recently been sitting with a heavy heart. I take a lot of pride in being a good friend because I love when I have good friend to check on me, have fun with and rely on. My very best friend recently had a baby and I get that changed your entire life. I text her multiple time a week checking on her and seeing how she

@discreetSailboat8180 She may need time to adjut to the huge upheaval in her life. That said, it's understandable you miss your friendship and want to see her.

I'm not sure how often you contact her but it may be helpful to give it a couple of months before asking if she wants to meet up to give her some space and time to adjust. It also may be a sign that this friendship has run its course and she's not someone you need in your life anyore.

I relate to this so much. My friend had a baby as well and now I feel like I'm almost vying for her attention? I have this weird.. almost jealous feeling. Is it possible to be jealous of a baby? Idk

i know exactly what you mean. I dont know if its jealousy but instead hurt maybe? Like you expect to continue not only in her life but be a huge part of the babies life. Im just lonely ithout her I have no one to really hang out with or even just call. Its upsetting

I'm sorry you've been so hurt by this. Have you tried talking to your friend about how to fit plans in with just the two of you? If she knows how you feel and continues to completely ignore you or flake on you in favor of her family and boyfriend, maybe she isn't meant to stick around in your life for now. She doesn't sound like a good friend if she does that consistently. That said, you mentioned that new parents have busy lives. They really, really do. For some new parents, it's going to take a lot time (years, maybe) before they feel comfortable leaving their child with a sitter to have fun with friends. It can be very painful to feel replaced, or when we think we have an inseparable bond with someone and suddenly it's broken. I'd suggest letting her know how you feel. That is the most important thing. Do you have ways of getting out and meeting new people on your own?

I also completely get being lonely. I made myself sick from crying last night because I felt I had no one to turn to. No one understood my pain as much as she did. I'm still struggling with it, but it has taught me that I need to be okay with being alone. Time with myself doesn't have to be depressing and anxiety-ridden. It doesn't have to feel like abandonment (even though it pretty much is). It doesn't have to be lonely for you either :)
