Receiving end of jealousy issues

One of my best friends (like a brother) is cutting me because his love interest is jealous and insecure and doesn't like him having female friends. Why do girls like this have to be so jealous of a man being friends with another woman? I don't connect well with girls and most of my friends are guys. I hate slowly losing them, one by one. At what point am I allowed to have friends?
