Struggle with Friendship

Hi.

My name is Hudson and I am 19 years old. I feel as if I have struggled to secure a friendship my whole life. I don't really think it's a situation of loneliness as I enjoy solitude and do have caring people in my life, but it's more of a fear of never having peers that I completely comfortable around.

I am quite an introverted person, I prefer to spend the majority of my time alone, engaging in my solitary hobbies anf interests. I am quiet nearly all of the time, being quiet as opposed to talking appears to be state of mind in which I can function the best. I believe that there might be other reasons for my quiet too...

Ideally, a good friendship to me is someone I can feel absolutely comfortable with being quiet around. I would adore simply listening to someone, quietly enjoying a hobby or interest together (such as a movie) or being alone, together, simply appreciative of each other's presence. Unfortunately, it seems as if this is hard to achieve as my experience with peers seems to involve verbose, high-energy, and extroversion as determinants for good friendships.

Of course, there could be more to my situation than my anxiety with the matter. I suspect I have a mile case of autism, it's confirmed yet as I am still awaiting a diagnosis. I have difficulty with conversation, such as picking up on cues or misunderstanding anything that not be literal.

I have one more thought to share on this in the comment below...
