Struggling Friends
Hey, everyone! I just wanted to do this quick post on this topic, as I know some close friends of mine have gone through this (as have I). This is a pretty informal post aha
The topic is... what do you do when your friendship with someone is temporarily cut by the other person? Imagine you were friends with someone for quite a few years, and you both always talked really often. Maybe even daily. Could be talking in person, online or both. Then all of a sudden, they're gone. Poof! They've disappeared. They don't answer your calls or messages and ignore all attempts of contact. It's been months. You've left them alone for a few months, but can't help thinking "What did I do wrong?" "What happened?" "Did I say something or do something that hurt them?" You've fallen into the assumption trap!
It's really easy to think that you are completely to blame for the end of the relationship, but it's often NOT your fault (unless you know you've done something wrong or otherwise stated... ). Sometimes, it's just that they needed a break. Or they are struggling and really don't want to tell you about it. Or a million other reasons! It's usually never your fault.
Next. What to do about it? Leave them some encouragement. Tell them you're there if they need, and leave it be. If it's really hurting you (being ignored is never nice!) remember to take care of yourself. Talk it out to someone. Journal about it. Do some self-care every day. Do something to take your mind off it. It's not an easy ride, but the best you can do for yourself is taking care of your emotional well-being.
Really random post! Have a good week everyone :) xx
