Surface Relationship? HELP!
I have a friend I met at a fantasy park. She works there as a character and I pay to go.. I got to know her and we slowly became friends outside and became good friends talking about deeper things like our hopes, struggles, anxiety, etc. I told her deep things after telling from her that I can open up and tell her things and she also told me things. I asked her if she was okay talking about hard things and she said yes. A week ago, she called and said that she needed to cut back on our friendship and that her therapist and mother said our friendship was toxic while some of her friends said I was just obsessive with her because of her character. I backed off, giving her space, stopped messaging her, however, we had mutual friends so I saw her twice in a group setting. During that, I gave her space and didn't talk to her, however, she said hi to me, complimented me on how I looked, asked how I was, and hugged me before leaving. I was confused and kept giving her space then saw her again where she pulled me aside to say she wanted a "surface relationship" where we only talk about the park, work, and the games we played. We admitted we did wrong with communication and she said she didn't see me as obsessed as her friends said. I'm unsure if doing this is healthy, concerned with a stagnant relationship without building trust, and afraid of my actions being seen as obsessive to her or her friends when I'm around her. I want to call it off but don't want to lose her.
@EvermoreRanger maybe just see what happens never heard of a surface relationship
