The one who Never existed

Some of us, sometimes, wish there was that one person you can express all your feelings and emotions to. Someone you can tell secrets to and talk about your problems. A friend. More importantly a childhood friend. I never had that and even though im just 14 and to others its nothing to worry about, it hurts. When i go to school and we are told to partner up, everyone chooses their bestfriend as their partner and i'm left alone...or with the kids who wish they also had a childhood friend like me. It sucks because you don't have a special friend and on top of that you don't have a person who you can cry on their shoulders because everyone judges you. Everyone watches you and talks about you. Or is that just my mind playing me...

Your mind isn't playing tricks on you. Please know that you are not the only one in this situation or feeling this way. Thousands of people, children, teens, and adults are experiencing something similar.

Making new friends is sometimes weird, awkward, and confusing. I find that having an open mind about other people is really helpful. Have you ever heard that old saying that goes "Don't judge a book by it's cover"? Sometimes we judge people based off of their first impression. We assume that they're weird or lame, and then we decide that we don't want to get to know them further. Because we make that decision to not get to know them, we won't be able to find out if they're actually cool and awesome, and we won't be able to become their friend. I'm not saying that this is what you're doing, but it might be a good thing to think about.

When you find yourself in situations with people you don't know (such as the other students who don't have best friends), maybe consider keeping an open mind and trying to get to know them? I can't promise you that you'll like them and want to be their best friend... But you might end up finding a good friend eventually this way.

What do you think?

Best wishes!
