Very few friends

I have never really had more than 2 friends at a time in any season of my life....seriously. I have decided in my head that it must be me. And now that Ive been diagnosed as bipolar I am even more convinced of that. Not really sure where to go from here. When I try to make friends, they either take advantage of me or they don't have time for me. I've all bit given up but Im lonely. I have my husband who's great and we have two adult children but I want more. Is that selfish of me?
