Do you think you make a good friend? Explain why?

Good friendships take time to build and even more effort to sustain them.

I think trust and open communication are key for describing healthy friendships.

But what would you choose - Quality or quantity? Explain why?

For me, loyalty and forgiveness. My bff and I have been bff's for over 30 years. We've been through some rough patches, and being able to forgive, and always supporting each other has been critical to our friendship.

@bunnyblade

Oh dear I'm so sorry for your loss and the hard time you are going through with all the cancer. I wish you look after yourself and get better. Although you had very tough experiences, I'm proud to say that you are very strong. It takes a lot of strength and courage to come out here and share your story. Of course lots of hugs and power to you!

Well according to me a friend can be anyone with whom you feel comfortable enough to share your worries and everything else with. There are different personas that we have around different friends and people but that is totally alright since some people are meant for a certain stuff while some are for something different. Keeping stuff to yourself is also alright at times because there are something's that are just for you. I hope everyone feel comfortable enough to talk around and listen to others on this platform.

@Frey1602

I get where you are coming from and I appreciate that you also wish that others on the site would feel comfortable to talk about their issues and experiences. It is indeed important to feel at ease when showing our vulnerable side or share how we really feel. When we can do that with our friend family member colleague and not fear judgement and they are actually supportive, we can be truly happy.

For one of them, their sense of humor and determination/passion. For another, their honesty and loyalty. Humor makes it more casual and takes less weight off of the conversation (imo) and I admire their intensity to accomplish their goals. Honesty is so important to me, and the other friend I've been fortunate enough to share some very personal information with. They're very loyal, so I feel like I can count on them when I need them.

I'd probably make a better friend if I was more active with them. I don't talk to them as much as I used to. I try to be a good friend to them. I try to be open, honest, and caring. I try to listen to them (even though I get distracted VERY easily sometimes, but I try not to make excuses) and be more involved in whatever they're talking about. They've opened up to me about their issues, I've opened up to them about mine. I can't help but feel like if I wasn't so wrapped up in my own issues, I could be there for them more. But I try.

I agree.

Agreed.

Quality. Because, while I'm not the biggest social expert out there, I know from experience bad friends can REALLY, REALLY burn you. And depending on how bad they are, your safety can be threatened. So yeah, quality for sure for me.

I really enjoyed reading your post. Thank you so much. Sounds genuine and actually quite touching. You were so specific in your answers. I love when people talk about honesty and loyalty which yes plays a huge role in maintaining strong friendships. Also I admire the fact that you are determined to be there for someone you care about but at the same time you'd like them to be there for you during high and lows as well (to have each other's back) That's what real friendship is about. Please keep coming back to share more. Your story can inspire others!

Better than quanity because the more friends you have the more drama. And etc.

Loyalty

Do you think you make a good friend? Explain why?

I try to listen to my Friends and spend time with them.

True

But what would you choose - Quality or quantity?

I would choose quality over quantity since I realize life today is very busy for everybody. People just may not have the time I do to invest in the friendship.

@Breezy2013

Loyalty trust and communication - that's right. Lots of people on this forum seem to think the same. I would agree with you, absolutely. Everyone needs someone to trust the other person, to openly communicate what's on their mind and know that you will always have a friend to turn to in times of need and hardships.
