Breaking All the Rules
I broke my one rule and decided to date my coworker.
I tried to be open with him about my anxiety issues and it seemed to be working out…. We were only talking for a week before my anxiety got the best of me and I ended up basically pushing him away.
After I did that I regretted it and tried to apologize….. he said he’s never been with someone who has anxiety like me; he said he said he really likes me but it’s scaring him honestly and he stopped responding after that.
He promised me we’d go on a date but now that’s never going to happen because he won’t respond to me anymore. The pain my heart feels is unbearable…. I feel like he’s a good guy, plus he’s the first guy I’ve dated in a very long time who I didn’t meet on a dating App. I can’t keep messaging him trying to explain myself… but every time my phone rings I’m hoping it’s him and he’s trying to give things another try. It’s been two weeks since he’s last messaged me or seen me. We haven’t seen each other at work either. I almost feel like if we saw each other again he’d finally say something. I really feel like I messed this up and I’m trying to figure out how to make this right…. Please help me figure this out….
It's clear that you care deeply about this person and that you genuinely regret how things unfolded. While it's tempting to keep reaching out to try to explain yourself and make things right, it's also important to respect his boundaries and give him the space he needs. Pushing too hard could end up making him feel even more overwhelmed and distant.
