My boyfriend loves me, cares for me a lot, gives me surprises, helps me, and supports me. Then one day, he told me he remembered his ex-girlfriend and wanted to do sweet things with her, like cooking for her and feeling her presence.

I honestly don't understand why he would bring this up or feel the need to say it.
I can see why you'd be confused and hurt.
