Family Planning Advice

Hi all can I please have some opinions. Thank you. My ex partner has not been in the picture for 6 months. That’s including all finances, care, daycare ect. She has returned. We did small joint visits at parks total of 3. However communication is very last minute. Then the most recent was messaged the night before asking for a whole day at an adventure park. Very big day no times or returns, just no plan. Also my kids are currently VERY focused on their toilet training. So if I go out it’s between 1-3 hours generally trying to stay away from using nappies all together. So i feel it’s a very crucial stage. Now she has also asked for an overnight this coming weekend what’s your thoughts? I would love to work towards that I just didn’t expect it so early. And all I say is that I would rather a mediator tell us how to do this for them I’m just really flustered. Keeping it cool and respectful the whole coparenting thing is new for me I just don’t want the kids thrown out of whack and be distressed or confused or out of routine. Keep in mind we have not started the mediation process, family planning or anything with assets and I thought keeping things simple and progressive till that happens is good for them and adjusting. Also keep in mind she has diagnosed post partum depression, depression, trauma ect but all untreated. I’m scared she will have her triggers that she used to have when caring for them, but I also know that is for her to figure out. I never say no but I do say I think we need advice and maybe we don’t idk but I’d rather be sure for them. But what response would I give. Personally I think I would response with something like: I’m happy to keep easing in to things but can we please get some guidance from mediator first as to what the right thing to do for them might be, I agree with you, I just don’t feel comfortable making the decision.

So please ask details or tel me if I’m going in the wrong direction.

All I think is that without any family plan in place, communication and everyone on the same page it’s going to be chaotic and will effect their progress in their routine.

Any help appreciated or an confusion let me know.

It's important to just have a calm but direct conversation.

Put boundaries in place that suit you all.

Let her see, notice is needed.

We all know flexibility is needed with kids but so is planning.

If you have a routine already in place as the primary care giver, then it's important to stick to it 😊
