Feeling down and sad
Today, I broke up with my bf. After multiple lack of respect (name calling, not stopping when I set my boundaries, assume I am cheating, etc), I decided it was enough. How can someone say they love you when they act this way and says there is worse things than name calling? I just don't get it. I'm feeling really down today. I'm just tired of being hurt by people that are "suppose" to love you. It is really hard. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Writting it down helps.
Hey there,
I'm really sorry you're feeling so down right now. What you did today walking away after repeated disrespect takes real strength. Even when you know it's the right decision, it still hurts. It’s okay to feel heartbroken and exhausted. That doesn’t make you weak. It makes you human.
You’re absolutely right to question how someone can say they love you and still treat you in ways that hurt. Love without respect, without care for your boundaries, isn't love it's control or insecurity wrapped in the word love to excuse bad behaviour. And you're right to see through that.
It’s especially painful when the people who are meant to love us end up being the ones who break us down. But you did something powerful you stopped the cycle. That matters.
Please be gentle with yourself right now. Let yourself grieve, cry, scream, or rest whatever you need. You don’t have to have it all figured out today.
Writing it down does help. And so does sharing it, like you just did. You’re not alone in this. We see you. And we’re rooting for your healing.
Take it one hour at a time if the days feel too long. You’ve already taken the hardest step. Keep going.
“Betrayal doesn’t break you because someone lied it breaks you because you built your life on a truth that never existed. Healing starts when you stop asking ‘why they did it’ and start asking ‘why you stayed after the first crack.’”
