I didn’t want the sheets he bought

My partner has gotten very disrespectful since our last major fight. He packed his things and went elsewhere 2 nights later because I refused to sleep in our bedroom. He spent a 3 nights away from our apartment but came home with wearing clothes smelling like they were washed with a different laundry detergent. I kept sleeping outside of our bedroom because I didn’t know what he was doing and where he was. For the last few weeks he keeps taking stuff home but the way these stuff are presented I know he received them from another female. Here I am feeling like another female is taking care of my husband, my kids, my home… yesterday he took home sheets for our bed. I don’t have the proof to say for certain another woman is doing this to me and so I remain silent for the time being but it’s eating me alive.

Certainly, anything might sound like walking on eggshells while you relationship is during a crisis. I am sorry to hear that.

How do you think, what could happen if you asked him where these sheets are from - in a straightforward but polite, non-assuming way?

Could those linen come from his mom or his female cousin?

Or straight from the shop ("temporary lonely" men are quite easy to use the simplest solutions sometimes)?

If you are living in the U.S., I imagine there are chains of public laundries there, and they can use different detergents, too?

Your partner having a romantic affair is just one of a few possibilities. Not excluded so far, but not necessarily true. Because, if he really was with another woman, what would be his reasoning behind coming back to you?

I hope you can talk and find some solution to the conflict... Even though the problem I read between the lines seems to be a difficult one...

I understand your point @jacek73.

I also have been stuck in 13 years of verbal abuse and cheating while he blatantly comes and let me know he is going to do it(cheating), even in public or he says others who are aware of his actions that I know about it. He gets up in the mornings and the first thing he gets on is his phone and if I ever say anything about it he tries to make me believe I am going crazy. As proof of his infidelity he had not one but two different baby mothers after so many years together, one of the kids(younger than our daughter)I am taking care of right now because his mom died. I am trying my best not to hate the child but every time he speaks about what they did together as a family it slowly pushes me towards the edge.

Well, you are right, this piece of information changes the entire context...

I believe the child of your partner from his previous relationship is innocent. Rather a victim of the situation (just like you) than anyone doing wrong.

Do you think you should take any more decisive steps in this situation?
