Idk how to get over him

Hi there.

It's been just a little over a year since my ex and I have broken up. We were together for nearly 3 years and were childhood friends. We stayed in contact for a while after we split up but this late summer he got into a relationship and I took a step back. We mutually broke up so that we could have a life outside of each other and learn independence from one another. He truly is an amazing person and I always want to continue having him next to me. It's super hard getting day by day without sharing my life with him anymore. Is there anything that helped anyone cope with being apart from somebody like that?

@hardworkingPear2319 I can really feel how hard this must be for you. Being apart from someone who was such a big part of your lif, especially after being childhood friends and then together for three years is a huge adjustment. It’s completely normal to feel the way you do. I’ve been through something similar, and while it’s not easy. Don’t push your emotions away. Let yourself feel sad, nostalgic, or even frustrated. It’s all part of healing, and there’s no right or wrong timeline for it. It’s clear you care about him deeply, but stepping back while you heal is a smart and healthy move. It’s hard, but it gives you the space to find your footing again. I have been on this journey just like you, I am getting better for sure. Slowly but surely. It's a process...don't worry you will definitely get better over a period of time

@thoughtfulTree986

thank you for your kind words. I'm sorry to hear you've been in a similar position but happy to hear you're slowly healing. :)

I'm doing my best. They split up for a bit a few weeks ago & he came to me for advice. We got fairly close again but then he ended up getting back with her and went awol on me. I think if he just never reached out I could've continued on my own b/c it was getting easier. But after that I feel like I'm just starting over again and I felt like I got no closure this time. It just sucks.
