I don’t know what to do

Every time a person tells me something bad or offends me out of nowhere. I can't say anything, I can't defend myself and all I do is cry. I would like to solve this but I don't know how to do it :(

hi @Chiara20, i hope you’re feeling better. It sounds like when you receive a message that you feel is either bad or offensive, you feel defenseless so it makes you cry. So it sounds like you’re looking for advice on how to change this.

I wanted to share about our response to perceived threats are called fight or flight. You can Google it to learn more. This is a term that i learned from a social worker and for the most part, it’s not a bad thing because it’s one of the ways we protect ourselves. For me, i tend to go into either mode depending on the situation. I’ve worked on catching myself in the mode so I can work through in getting out of them. It’s still a work in progress, im working with my therapist on resetting my response system so it’s not misfiring on safe situations. I think what might be helpful is to work through this with a therapist to find out what’s the underlying issue. I hope you feel better soon!

Hey @cyanField2471, sure we can talk, but there isn’t a member-to-member chat on this app so you’ll have to post it here or in a different post and tag me.

@confusedbi08, it sounds like you’re showing signs of anxiousness because you want to tell your friend that you like her but not sure how. I want to share that I’ve felt anxious towards a girl and not knowing what that may mean. When I’m feeling anxious, I will hold my breath and forget to breathe. It’s important to breath because it will help you feel calm. So what I do when I notice that I’m holding in my breath, I pretend to blow a candle out. Sometimes I will count to 4 when I do this but I think the most important part is just trying to blow out this imaginary candle about 10 times. You should try it and see if it works for you. When it comes to feelings, it’s okay to be like water and go with the flow. There is no rush in telling her that you like her. With time, you will feel more comfortable with the new feelings of liking a girl, or your friend. There will be a time when you will find the courage to tell her that you like her. But for now, let’s try blowing out those candles. :-)
