I just don't understand

I've been struggling with my partner for years and we finally got to the point where we are trying to work on it but I feel like it's so one sided. I just don't get it. They sent me a message this morning saying that they want us to have a strong relationship. I responded back with I do to and think we need to discuss on moving forward and I explained some of the things we need to work through. They hearted the message with no response after that. How I we suppose to have a strong relationship if there's no response to talking about the issues?

If a person says they want a strong relationship but avoids the discomfort of real conversations, they are seeking comfort, not connection. Strength in any bond comes from facing hard truths together, not hearting messages and escaping the work. If they won’t step into the arena with you, you are trying to build a bridge alone.
