I’m losing my mind at this point

Hi everyone. I really need some outside perspective because I feel completely lost.

I’ve been in a relationship for a while, and my boyfriend and I have worked through a lot together. We’ve both made mistakes, we’ve both changed, and we’ve fixed many of the problems we had at the beginning. Neither of us is perfect.

I know I have things to work on. I can become jealous, I sometimes hold on to the past, and when I’m hurt, I can be negative or complain more than I’d like. I’m actively trying to change because I don’t like those parts of myself.

At the same time, I feel like my boyfriend and I are very different people. He’s very logical, while I’m much more emotional. Sometimes I feel like he shows love by providing, solving problems, and taking care of practical things, while I need emotional connection, reassurance, and understanding.

Lately, I’ve started feeling like no matter what I do, it’s never enough. I feel like I disappoint him all the time, even with small things. Sometimes I catch myself thinking that even the way I sleep, talk, or exist is bothering him. I don’t know if that’s actually true or if it’s just how I’ve started feeling after so many conflicts.

I love him deeply, and I know he has many good qualities. I don’t think he’s a bad person, and I don’t think I’m a bad person either. But we’re both exhausted, and I’m scared we’ve reached a point where we’re hurting each other more than we’re helping each other.

I’m not looking for people to tell me to break up with him or to tell me to stay. I just want honest opinions.

Has anyone been in a relationship where both people loved each other but communicated so differently that everything became difficult? Were you able to make it work, or did you realize love alone wasn’t enough?

Please be kind. I’m genuinely trying to understand whether I’m expecting too much, whether I’m blaming myself too much, or whether we’re simply no longer compatible.

I've been in the similar relationship for about 9 years.  It cannot be explained in any human language how much i've thought and felt on it. The main result of it is: no matter how much love there is, no matter how much hope and desire, i should be extremely honest to myself -  can i (or we) cope with issues we have? And my answer in my case is no, we defenetly cannot...  So due to that i should act...

There are no universal recipe, but we have a start point.  I am (we are)  living in the city alien to me, we have the young children together, and so on, and so on, and so on....

And you are right: all of this is shrouded in that endless feeling of brokenness

First of all, send yourself some love right now. The fact that both of you have grown, fixed past mistakes, and kept choosing each other says so much about how deep your bond is. Real love isn't about being perfect; it's about staying committed through the messy parts and growing together.

Self-awareness is a huge gift, but please don't be too hard on yourself while working on your own stuff. You’ve already come so far together—take a deep breath, give yourself some grace, and remember that work-in-progress love is often the most beautiful kind. ❤️
