Just a general question

I think I have a problem with communication. When I ask a simple yes, no, maybe type question, I always seem to never get straight answers. I had that issue with my exwife and now I’m finding the same frustration with my current companion. If the frustration is because of how I ask or what I expect for an answer then I’m open to correct it.

So here is a good example of what I mean:

ME: Did you give any thought to my question last night? Are we going to meet or not?

HER: No. I haven’t given it any thought

ME: What’s the answer to the second question?

HER: What was the second question?

ME: Are we meeting up tomorrow?

This was from last night. Never got an answer.

FFWD to today…

ME: Did you want to go out tonight and try that new place that I was talking to you about the other night?

HER: What time do they close?

ME: They close at 8pm

(waiting for an answer at the moment)

Am I being unreasonable or am I missing something here?

@1in8billion,

for your first example, she replied she hadn't given it any thought yet. That was her reply and seem to be pushing for a yes or a no.

This style of communication creates pressure, it appears to be pushy and not giving the other person space.

I can imagine that if this is a standard way of communication, that someone simply stops replying at all.

If you want to invite someone, they like to feel that you want to spend time with THEM. Not that you want them to say yes or no because YOU want something.
