Marriage crisis

Hi,

I’m a 45-year-old woman, married for 25 years, with two children (7 and 12).

Recently I’ve been going through a very painful situation in my marriage.

My partner often uses very hurtful and disrespectful words toward me, sometimes even in front of our children. It has deeply affected my self-esteem and emotional well-being. I feel broken, exhausted, and very alone.

I’m not looking for judgment or quick advice.

I just need someone kind to listen, help me process my feelings, and support me in rebuilding my confidence and emotional strength.

I want to become stronger, less emotionally dependent, and protect myself from being hurt again.

Thank you for being here and listening.

@Nikki80 It's understandably painful hearing your spouse talk disrespectfully to you. No one wants that.

I'm guessing he has issues going on and you being the "safest" person in his life he's taking it out on you. Many of us tend to be the most unguarded with those closest to us while being more careful with people really not important in our lives.

Ideally you would make him aware of how it makes you feel when he talks that way. If he became aware of how his actions could potentially break the relationship you have he would hopefully become more careful in the future.
