Mom help
My mom and I use to have a great relationship, but I’m 25 now and have a new job and relationship so I’m living my life. She says I don’t call enough and truth is whenever I call her she just lectures me or tells me about how depressed she is since her mom passed in February. I want to be there for her during grief but she takes her anger out on me and I have to protect my peace. She says I lack empathy and that she must be a terrible mom for raising me to be like this. I know she needs therapy but she wont go. I haven’t spoken to her since she went off on me about being a bad kid who lacks empathy. Not sure what to do from here, I know she misses me living close to home but I’m trying to get my own life started. Any thoughts?

🥺
I can see you do care or you wouldn't be here.
You do have empathy.
I'm sorry for your loss.
Your mother needs to work through this grief.
Call her but limit the calls.
Check in but with boundaries.
You are doing what you can 💜💕

It sounds like you love your mom deeply, and you’re trying to balance caring about her with taking care of your own mental peace. That’s not easy at all. Grief can sometimes make people act in ways that don’t reflect who they truly are. Losing her mom has probably left your mother feeling scared and alone, and unfortunately, she’s directing that hurt toward you.
You’re doing your best while also trying to build your own life, and that’s completely valid. You deserve peace, support, and the freedom to move into your future while still caring about your mom in a way that feels safe for you. Just keep showing love with boundaries that protect you.
Sending you love and hugs my dear!
Sometimes you can love people from afar. If she won’t help herself it’s hard for you to help but that doesn’t mean you don’t love her and aren’t a good daughter
