My girlfriend broke up with me because she thinks I hate her for being a virgin
We are in our late 20s.. because of some issues she had in childhood she found it hard to date and trust people. I was her first boyfriend. I made a comment in a joking manner about virginity and it is a very sensitive topic for her. She told me I am a horrible person and broke up. Took all her clothes. It was not even about her. It was a general joke.

Any type of breakup is a challenge, especially one that blind side us with no warning at all. It sounds like you were just joking around and meant no harm to her. But in her eyes, the concern about the past issue scared her. Even those you meant no harm, she took it as a warning sign to run and not to look back. I know this as I have had this happen to myself as well, and it's something I reject for the rest of my life of what happened. Just know, that sometimes this happens to the best of us.
