Travel fiasco

Hi 27 F, I’ve been in a relationship for the past 4 years and I’ve known my partner (28 M) since 2017-ish. We’ve had several issues and are currently in therapy for the second time. His sister invited me to her baby shower and it’s in a different city nearly 300 miles from where me and my partner live. Me and his sister aren’t close but there’s no bad blood (at least in my end). Theres a huge storm this weekend and I was considering not going to the baby shower. I told my partner yesterday that we needed to talk about our plan for going since I had concerns about the weather. He agreed but didn’t initiate a conversation until I reminded him today as he was leaving. He calls me while he’s driving and he was completely dismissive (one of our biggest issues). We go back and forth. I asked him specific questions about my anxieties and he refused to answer rather he threw the questions back on me trying to force me to tell him what I need to be comfortable. I got frustrated of course and just said I wasn’t going to go. We hang up. He then calls back like 30 mins later to say he’s done research about the weather and sees it will actually be bad so he’s not going to go either. No mention of my concerns or their validity. I’m so tired of being brushed off and treated like a problem that needs to be mitigated. This is just the ice berg of our problems. I’ve been ready to leave the relationship for a while but I keep staying because he makes promises to change that he never ends up keeping. How long am I supposed to wait for him to act like he cares about me or my comfort? (Rhetorical because I know the answer)

@DrAwkward78

I'm sorry to hear that you are being constantly dismissed and it appears , only his concerns are valid.

Relationships cannot be about the one who shouts the loudest or throws their toes out of the pram.

It's about compromise.

Equality.

Listening , but actually taking what you are saying on board.

I'm not suggesting an ultimatum, but if this keeps up, I would take a break and give him time to process and learn he cannot keep doing as he pleases and their be no consequences.

You deserve respect, love, happiness and the same energy back 💚

Wishing you my genuine best 💚
