he blocked me and it’s my fault
so me and this guy i’ll call G met online two weeks ago and have been inseparable since. important to note that he’s an extreme extrovert and i’m the most introverted person he’ll ever meet. he could relate to a lot of my experiences and difficulties because he’s somehow been through them all before and we also share a lot of the same interests. i also thought he was the most gorgeous guy i have ever seen and he thought i was the most gorgeous girl he’d ever seen. i developed feelings and was convinced i had met my soulmate.
so he was flirting with me one day and i took this opportunity to ask him if he liked me. he said yes, a lot and i confessed back in return. he then said that he knows long distance will never end well (6 hour plane ride away) and wants to spare me the pain and didn’t want to hurt me. he also has trauma with previous long distance stuff (his old crush he liked for 8 months was long distance and ended up not liking him back despite giving him all the signs so he was really hurt and scarred with long distance relationships after that). i understood, but naturally i was sad. im a very emotional person. i can start absolutely bawling my eyes out at the littlest thing, lets say for example stubbing my toe and not even that hard (real experience). so since i was sad i started crying, not hard but just crying a bit. we started talking normally again but then he asked how i was and i told him i was crying because that was the truth, and he’s always allowed me to be completely transparent with my feelings in the past, so i assumed i could tell him this. i also apologized for making the whole situation weird.
he said this is exactly what he was thought was going to happen and what he was trying to prevent, and comforted me while also saying he never wanted to hurt me and it was not my fault. but i was sad. he can’t just flirt with me one day (and like when i say flirt i mean he was being REALLY flirty) and then say he doesn’t want to pursue a relationship. he did give me a reason but if he knew it was never going to work out then why lead me on? (apologies if that sounded selfish and like i only care about my feelings).
i kept texting him, but he stopped responding. i asked why he was being unresponsive, and he said that he’s not trying to be unresponsive, but he was trying to give me time to process things and that we could talk tomorrow. i said okay and that was that.
the next day, i texted him first at 8 pm (pretty late for him) since he still hadn’t sent me a message and i was getting worried. i asked him if i was just irrelevant to him now, because it really seemed like i was, and asked if he still wanted to be friends. he wouldn’t respond but he was online, so for some weird reason i decided to keep texting him in like 30 minute intervals since HE said we could talk that day (his words not mine). he eventually responded after i told him if he really needed space he could just tell me straight up and told him to communicate. he always tells me to communicate my emotions or whatever’s on my mind so i find it really contradictory that he’s the one not communicating now.
he responded,
“sorry, i’ve been busy lately and i just need a bit of time to process things sorry”.
i said okay but also asked how long was he thinking and if he still wanted to be friends. he said he didn’t know to both. that made me think he didn’t want to be friends anymore, and naturally i was really sad and had a lot more questions. i left him alone after that though, until he texted me 30 minutes later with,
“you seem like a really nice person, but i feel like this relationship is becoming unhealthy, so i’d like to take a step back as i have a lot on my plate”.
i didn’t even know how to feel then, so i sent a paragraph apologizing for ruining everything and asking him what he meant by unhealthy relationship and taking a step back. he then responded with,
“this is exactly what i mean”
then blocked me. so far he has blocked me on one social and unadded me on all the others, including games which is pretty petty in my opinion. i’m 99% sure he’s blocked me on messages as well, but i don’t want to try and see if he did. because what if im not blocked and the text goes through and he sees it and just gets more mad and blocks me on the last platform i can contact him on? and we’re long distance, so i officially lost him if he does block me.
i don’t have much hope he’ll unblock me to talk it out later. i also found out from one of his friends that he’s still as active on the games as before and as energetic. and he still texts in a mutual server like normal, i don’t think he ever cared about us.
i think it’s my fault. i’d like some other perspectives on this. please don’t say it’s not my fault just to comfort me, i can handle it. i’d also like to see what others think on if he’ll unblock me later or not.
@ashyx It sounds like you're really hurting right now, and I’m sorry you’re going through this. From an outside perspective, it seems like he cared but got overwhelmed, especially since he already had past trauma with long distance relationships. It also looks like the way you expressed your emotions might have felt intense for him, and instead of handling it maturely, he just shut down and cut you off. That doesn’t mean it’s your fault relationships (even friendships) require both people to communicate and work through things, not just one person adjusting to the other's needs. Will he unblock you? Maybe, but it’s not something you should wait around for. If he truly wanted to work things out, he would have communicated instead of blocking you. Try to focus on yourself and healing from this, rather than holding onto hope for someone who walked away. You deserve people who will stay and talk things out, not leave when things get tough
@ashyx Listen, this is not your fault. He was the one who flirted with you, made you believe there was something real between you two, and then suddenly decided to back out. That’s on him. He knew from the start that he didn’t want a long-distance relationship, but instead of being clear about it, he led you on and then blamed you for having feelings. That’s unfair and honestly pretty selfish. And then blocking you instead of just talking things out? That just proves he didn’t have the emotional maturity to handle the situation properly. You didn’t do anything wrong by being honest and vulnerable. If anything, he’s the one who should feel bad for how he treated you. I know it hurts, but please don’t waste your time blaming yourself or hoping he’ll come back. You deserve better
