Am I overthinking or is this toxic?
Disclaimer: It’s almost 5am and I’m probably overthinking.
My partner and I have been together for almost a year now and we’re both very much in love with each other. But recently I realised the longer I’m apart from them the worse my anxiety gets. I think maybe I’ve developed some type of dependency on them. I know I haven’t done or said anything to make them feel responsible for my mental state so afaik this hasn’t hurt them. But is this type of behaviour still toxic even if I don’t make her feel responsible or express it? I know I’m probably just overthinking but I can’t get the thought out of my head.
@EmptyVase7 I think it's probably just overthinking :P something can't really be "toxic" if the other person doesn't even know it's happening and isn't really impacted by it. That's kind of like saying that private thoughts and feelings are toxic...it doesn't make much sense, you know? "Toxic" would be like, you're having those anxious feelings and so start accusing your partner of random things every time you're worried, it involves some sort of action on your part. However, that doesn't mean it's not something you should address for yourself. These feelings are still impacting you, and obviously causing you stress about your relationship, and therefore could be worth it to work on and figure out what could help lesson those feelings. Not because they're toxic, but because you deserve to feel comfortable and secure in your relationship.
