Am I wrong?
So, my boyfriend and I have been in a long distance relationship for the past few months, due to certain issues. Well today, we were talking about how much we love each other and what we do to show each other that love. I told him that I respect his growth by not bringing up his old mistakes and punishing him all over again. I told him I'd be wrong for doing so. Soon after, he starts throwing my past mistakes (even mistakes made before I even met him) in my face and telling me that I don't deserve to be treated right. To give you more context, my past mistakes were me letting a male coworker borrow my phone to call his girlfriend. He also had a problem with me even having basic conversations with male coworkers. His past mistakes were inappropriately (sexually) talking to other women, buying his ex gifts, and even spending time with another woman. He called me out my name and talked really bad about me, then acted like I was wrong for hanging up and deciding not to let him disrespect me. He says I'm childish for hanging up and not listening to that. Am I wrong? Am I crazy?
From everything you have written here, he’s handling this very immaturely. You said you respect his growth by not bringing up his old mistakes and then he explodes and says you don’t deserve to be treated right? That’s not respectful at all for any kind of relationship. Hopefully you guys can talk about this peacefully and work it out together.
Thank you! I knew I wasn't crazy! I told him that he didn't have to be disrespectful when I didn't even say anything disrespectful to him. Instead of understanding, he cursed me out, called me horrible names, and much more. We're only 21 and 22, but I feel like he should be able to explain his feelings without being disrespectful.
Maybe he just needs some time to absorb everything so he can process it all. Maybe giving him some time would help and then go back to it at a different angle.
