Feeling isolated
So my partner and I, had a recent heated argument because they are upset that I talk to a friend about relationships advice. The reason I talk to this friend is because me and my partner had another argument where I was trying to explain to them my feelings on something going on in our relationship but instead of talking it out they said some hurtful things and refuse to talk me about it. Even now my partner hadn't really said anything to me between yesterday and this morning. Right now I'm at a lost on how I can move forward.
Sometimes people don't know how to handle their emotions. Often when I get in an argument with my SO they walk away while I'm talking too and then we never get to finish the conversation. It makes me angry, so then I started following them and continueing the conversation and making it worse leading to hurtful things we both probably didn't mean.. until I realized that walking away was a tactic for them (and me) to cool down and process the information.. and I just had to come to terms with that and bring it up again in a calmer manner when we were both in a better mind set. Someone else told me that a lot of the time when talking about something hard it's going to take more than one conversation. Which sucks believe me but it will and can get better.
@SilenceisSolace right now I'm not sure if i can get them to have a another conversation with me at this point .
You may have to let them cool down for a couple days.. and then see how they are I am wishing you the best of luck.
I could understand why he got mad, but you have to remember that relationships take two not one so if you feel something you should tell him. If he doesn't listen then it's his fault that you went to seek guidance because he won't comfort and help you. What they did was wrong by answering with hurtful comments do not feel like your in the wrong for just wanting to find an opinion so you wouldn't feel so stuck. I suggest you cut contact with whoever those people were for they are not good for you. If your partner is making you feel not happy try to tell him how you feel. If he doesn't listen or makes you feel worse then I suggest leaving him. Because a relationship should always listen to one another. First they've got to hear it out before they walk it out.
Honestly I see where your spouse is. It’s best to keep the problems within your relationship is you do seek outside help I’d recommend couples therapy
@dragonball4lyfe my partner already told me they don't need therapy.
My husband is the same damn way. With men like the ones we have we either have to learn to live with it or we leave. I’ve been putting up with it for 7yrs. We have a kid together so I do not have the easy split route. I’ve chose to stay
How does he know you talk to someone else about the relationship? Can you be more discreet? Is the friend you confide in the same sex as your partner? If they’re a different sex it might make your partner uncomfortable. I empathize with you because everyone needs at least one friend to talk to.
@lifeisbeautiful37 my partner went through my phone. My friend is the same gender as me.
Thats not cool!
