How to cool down after an argument or fight
As humans and as emotional living beings, all of us will have moments when we get angry or frustrated with the other person, sometimes rightfully so. Yet, anger rarely leads to viable solutions and often more so than not will tear apart relationships if allowed to fester. Therefore it remains very important to have various methods and habits to diffuse anger and allow for resolution of conflicts more gently and diplomatically.
For me personally, I can easily recognize when I get angry and that I should probably stop talking. Words pent up in my mouth and my head and if let loose I think I can let out a ton of words and phrases that will probably will do more harm than hurt. Learning how to restrain myself at that moment has been a key and identifiable method of countering my anger. Eventually as time passes, my anger simmers and more so I understand and am level-headed to calmly say apologies or ask for an apology.
What are some effective ways that you have been able to prevent anger from hurting your relationships?

This is a great post; I will address your question. :)

I've mentioned this a lot by now in the forums, but mindfulness has played such an integral role for me in regulating all of my emotions and responses--not just with anger.
However, it has indeed been helpful towards allowing me to cognitively process my feelings in the moment before I react. The only downside to this is that it took me until this point in my life to learn this life-skill 😅
