How to make friends when you're isolated?

So I live in the middle of nowhere with my mum. A mile to the next house, 5 miles to the next village. The bus costs a small fortune and I can't drive yet. 3/4 of the houses around are empty and the avarage age group is far older than me.

My mum has her friends around but I'd really like someone to talk to who has similar interests and won't automatically take my mum's side/ report any gossip to her.

My childhood friends have grown up to be antisocial and I was hurting myself chasing after them/ trying to live to their standards so I cut ties.

On the online side of things I lack a phone with internet so I can't use any of the friend making apps I've came across and I don't exactly want the slow chance of friends a forum or other world wide large group could give me.

I'd like to make friends with someone of my rough age group, who lives within 100 miles of me and has roughly the same intrests as me. Does anyone have advice? I feel like I've lost all my bridges out of isolation.
