Issues

So I was talking to a friend and . . . He told me the stuff I say and . . . Yeah, anyway he told me it sounds like I have "daddy issues" and so I looked up some effects, how issues or problems with your relationship with you father would affect other relationships among other things and I have so many of those symptoms. I hate it. I hate how a person who was not there and continually hurt me is still affecting me. Affecting my relationship with my step dad, affecting every relationship I have. And with some of the effects I just thought . . . I never really noticed them. Never thought they were problems or something was wrong. It was just another part of me. I thought it was normal. And I found out it isn't and that there's more wrong with me. More I need to fix and I don't know how or where to start.

@SitaBlack15

I appreciate you writing here. And it's very good that you don't keep it to yourself. It is first action step to change something.

You write about „daddy issues“ and that it somehow affects your relationships. I don't think it's completely helpful to relate to some past issues. And burden yourself with some labels. Tell me, how does it help you if you believe it? And how do you feel when you think that? Maybe angry? And that somehow you need to fix yourself. And that is understandable. I would feel that way too if I focused on this and believed it.

I do not see anything wrong with you. If you focus only on what you would like to do differently. What would it be? You have a choice. What exactly is going on? What is your behavior and what would you like to change about it? It doesn't have to be a big change right away. Just small steps. But it's good to start with something specific.

Take care.
