Missing my best friend.. any advice?

Lately I miss my best friend a lot. We used to talk everyday, for hours, being our one a long distance friendship. I felt so good when talking to him, but then he started to talk to me everyday less, and we went from a all-day-long talk to the “good morning” and “good night” text, sometimes without a reply. I know he’s doing this because he’s feeling bad, but not telling me what is bothering him I don’t really know how to help. I feel so sorry for this, like I feel I’m not enough to help him. Yet at the same time I feel selfish because I miss him even though I know he’s not feeling good and maybe I should leave him his space to be. The truth is that I’m terrified by losing him. We’re like brothers, he’s so important to me... I really hope he remembers I’m always here

@Sloth314 I would just give it time sometimes time is all people need other wise I have no idea I lost my BFF in 2020 before the pandemic but she became toxic and started to cause issues so she wasn't really a best friend it only lasted about 4 years.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah I’m definitely leaving him his space, even though I’d need him sometimes. Btw I can totally understand you. During the years I experienced a lot of friendship (also very long ones, like a 13yo friendship) breakups with toxic people that made me feel so so bad, that’s why I have trust issues now and why I’m scared of losing touch with people I love.

@Sloth314. Hi you sound like I used to. Then I read a good book called codependent no more and it really helped! It is tough when our loved ones pull away for whatever reason but we can drive ourselves ( and them) crazy by not letting them have space they need! Hugs to you!

Thank you, I’ll check it out. I’m giving him the space he needs btw, even though it hurts me not to talk to him for such a long time. Thanks for the advice btw, hugs back!
