My first time
Hi I'm Hannah I'm 32 yrs old, I have 2 children, I've had a bad run with partners and even though I'm pretty sure I'm not crazy just needing another opinion I guess. So my partner lives with me at my parents house for free for the last year, but day to day life he can't just chill with us. He always acts like there's some problem or busy doing something. It's my family home yet he acts like it's his house then when I ask him where something of mine is for the hundredth time it gets frustrating. I don't want him using all my stuff and living with me for free when I don't even get treated like a partner. When I voice anything it always just gives him a reason to get angry and fight with me when all I wanted was his company. He makes all these excuses as to why he can't treat me like a person he loves but he doesn't, it's like he thinks he is owed everything and throws a fit if he doesn't get it. How much can he expect from me when he gives nothing in return. Even getting a kiss or a loving touch comes with a bunch of emotional blackmail like " if u want a kiss just have to be patient" "Oh my stomach hurts" " my anxiety" I'm sick of waiting for something that will never come
Healthy boundaries would benefit both of you. I would suggest looking into resources that could help you learn how to establish those! As for his lack of affection, that sounds like a relationship need you have that isn't being met. That is the type of issue that can be addressed with communication, such as a mutual talk about what both of you need, want, and hope for out of being together. It bears saying that finding the answers involves working together, but also the very real possibility that those conclusions can't be reached if he is unwilling to make real, substantial change to meet your needs (and the same for you listening to and working towards his, as long as they are healthy things to ask of a partner.) How are your family reacting to his behavior? Do you have a support network of friends you trust you can go to? Or a mental health/life advice professional you can speak with about these challenges? Many areas offer very low cost resources for these things for those in financial need.
