So a few years ago I did not tell my husband that I had failed a class and they ended up throwing a surprise graduation party so I never said anything out of embarrassment. So my graduation date was listed as a semester later. Well he recently found the diploma in our office desk, it wasn’t hidden. He confronted me about it and I came clean, told him the truth. I apologized for not telling him. Well he has decided he no longer trusts me at all and has started staying in our guest room. We have a 1 year old and I am currently pregnant. We have been together for 9 years now. I understand being mad but I feel like his reaction has been over the top. Thoughts?

I’m glad you realized your faults and that you realized how the things you did could’ve hurt him. I think you should maybe communicate and talk to him deeply about how he really feels about the situation to see where his head is at and then take steps from there. Communication is key and I do agree that sleeping in the guest room might not be the best way to resolve this. In my opinion if you guys speak about it You both should look at the bigger picture which is the admirable 9 years and 2 beautiful kids you have together and really show him that you had no ill intentions in hiding it because I definitely don’t think you meant to hurt him. hope this helps ! :)

Thank you! I have tried talking to him but at home he just goes to the room or is playing with our daughter. So a lot of our communication has been over text 🤦‍♀️😑

Explain to him, at the time, you did what was your best. You understand the pain and frustration that caused. But, it was a judgement error, and you were limited in your ability to choose differently out of shame and embarrassment. Tell him your live for him and your small family are unchanged by your inability to make a better decision. Explain that you realize the consequences and you accept them. But, your dedication to becoming a better person with him, hasn't changed. Everyone is always doing their best. It can't be otherwise. ❤

Yes, that’s why I’m trying to be patient and give him the space he wants. Just hard with a 1 year old around. I just need people to talk to since we can’t talk with friends about this really...
