I'm Christian and I'm currently dating a Muslim girl. We've been dating for almost 2 years now and the religion part has come up...
I can't convert and don't want her to convert, I want us to get married but it would be in court. She said she might be okay with it if I speak to her father and if he's okay with it then she'll follow through. I'm going to meet with her father in the next few hours and would appreciate some advice on what to say.
@InMyTime
Is this the first time you're meeting her father?
Is she going to be by your side for moral support during this talk?
This will be my second time meeting her father and we will meet at her place. She is to afraid and would rather be comfortable if I speak to her father alone about this. I can see that she really wants to be with me as well but don't want to lose her family. She doesn't really want to marry in court but she'll compromise if today's meeting would be promising.
@InMyTime
You say she is afraid to make life choices for fear of "losing her family". Would she expect you to accept her father's decisions post marriage too, since the perceived threat of "losing the family" remains.
I hope you are able to discuss this together and best wishes to you for the future!
Thank 0m. I actually sat down today with her father and we discussed this. Result, it all looks positive 🙂
@InMyTime
That is awesome!! Well done to you!
Thanks for letting me know, I'm really so glad this worked out :)
