Trauma & Long Distance

Hello,

There's been a lot on my mind. My partner and I made a huge move together to New Mexico from the PNW. However, around the beginning of the year, he was sexually assaulted, and our friend passed away not too long after that. So when preparing to move, things were a struggle, extra stressful and it ended up being a mess. However, about 2 months into being moved, my partner made the decision he needed to leave and go back home. There were some definite issues involving him and my mother that took a serious toll on his mental health and our relationship. A lot of this has been discussed, confronted and talked over, but of course there is some residual negative emotions, especially on his side.

Now we are over 2 months into being in a long distance relationship, and the first month was a lot of constant fighting, animosity, anger, and resentment. I realized that I messed up as his partner, wasn't there when he was struggling and it all kept happening. So now this is our situation. He couldn't be around, and left. I don't blame him, I can't blame him.

I'm nitnsure what I'm looking for, I'm just in constant distress, my mental health is crumbling and I just feel constantly alone through it. I have two months until he comes back home, but I'm reeling. I know it's not a long time, but I'm not sure how to help my own mental stability through the rest of the time.

Thanks for reading, just needed to write. I'm on a wait list for therapy and trying to find some help/outlets.

@Mixhael96

Hi, I'm sorry that you are going through this. Long distance can be really tough but I'm happy that your partner will be back in two months. I think it's great that you are both trying hard to communicate with each other and work out any problems with understanding. Do you have a close friend or family member that you could talk with about how you are feeling? If not, this is a great place to receive support. There are so many people here for you.

You are going through a lot and you are handling it so well. I hope things get better for you

Take Care!
