Unhappy
I am so unhappy in my relationship but I can’t deprive my son from his father and a healthy parenting relationship. I am so confused because my heart is empty of love for him
Hi, I'm so sorry for what you're going through. I don't know the reasons that have brought your relationship to this point, but I can tell you that being a parent does not mean depriving yourself of all freedom. Today there are many marriages that end in divorce, more and more relationships are ending and this is not necessarily bad. The fact that you want the best for your child is admirable - however, are you sure this could be the best? Kids can understand and perceive when things are not going well. I don't know how old he is, but if he's old enough you might consider talking to him about it, making him feel considered and heard. In any case, don't make yourself small just to prevent someone from suffering. Do what you think is necessary, remember that we are always here if you need.
This marriage has run its course. Your happiness is the most important to your son -- you need to be happy for him, and that means you want to leave this marriage. You and husband can still be great -- or greater as you both will be happier longer term --- co-parents.
