i Do want to start dating but another part of me is scared
i am 26 year old woman i haven't been with anyone since i was 23 and i am not honestly sure what i would do with a boyfriend since i am so rusty with dating and the covid pandemic has made it harder to find people that are suitable and don't end up scaring me away or having some sort of red flag another part of me is scared to get attached to the wrong guy again and then having to start over if things don't work out could use some guidance i do have a threapist who has been helpful but i just fear another break up would happen but i do realize it's part of relationships etc i also sometimes get ghosted and i mean ive goten used to it but i wish people would commuicate better.
Totally understandable Sally. I can absolutely relate. Starting up again is hard and it can be scary, especially after it's been a long time. But you deserve love and I'm sure the right someone is out there. It's ok to be picky in who you choose to go out with or talk to. If it's a red flag then trust your gut and say no. They might be a really nice person but maybe just not the right one for you. There's nothing wrong with saying that. If you think you keep attracting the wrong guys maybe have a trusted friend look at your profile (if you're using online dating) and see if they see something in how you come across that maybe you don't. Or ask them to choose someone who they think could be right for you. It gets easier with time and practice and you'll get better at weeding out the people who aren't right for you. And once you find someone you think you like, it's ok to take it slow. Don't worry about what you would "do" with a bf. Once it happens it will feel natural. Just keep your expectations low to begin with and try to have fun with it and just enjoy the experience of meeting new people. It'll happen for sure. Stay strong. You're worthy of love. Big hugs
@braveAlpaca yeah i would think sooner or later i will find someone but its tough with the pandemic everything is really virtual.
I know. I'm in the same boat. But eventually the restrictions will start to loosen up and we'll be able to see people in person again. Keep working on yourself for now, figure out what you want/need in a relationship and you'll be more ready for when things open up again. It'll work out in the end. And at the risk of sounding cliche... it'll probably happen in the way you least expect it. Stay strong
And personally, on the contrary, I like the fact that I should not rush to meet face to face now. Covid gave more time for internet communication. If I can actively communicate with a person for more than 4 weeks, then we really will not be bored together in reality. I try to use only trusted sites for communication. I immediately see the pros and cons of the site and decide whether it is convenient for me to communicate here. Use the lockdown as an opportunity to test the other person more thoroughly. This is a normal reaction. (edited by FM @CheeryMango for offsite link)
Have you ever seen a service for dating smart people? Those who are too worried in real life and cannot pronounce without stuttering? I recently saw an entire overview site with the best dating apps for nerds. It's funny there everything was told and written, it is necessary to recommend it to a friend.
