A Virgin Going Into College

So, I'm 18 and currently only months away from college and still a virgin and although the numbers show I may be far from alone, Im concerned about it. I don't know why, but I have this need for my first time to be something special with someone special. However, in college people have so much unspecial sex and many people who are more sexually experienced seem to look down upon virgins. To add on to the pressure, Im also a guy, which means Im expected to be more sexually advance and confident, yet its quite the contrary. Im affraid that having sex is getting pushed further and further from my reach as time goes by, and I simply don't know what to think or do about it. And with my current sexual appitite, it gets increasingly more frustrating and depressing. Does anyone have any words of wisdom, recommendations, satistics, stories, or other coping machinisms that may help me out?

Well I can give you my and some of my old friends perspectives if it helps?

I'm currently 23 and still a virgin. I'm at university (I guess what americans call college?). I do think the exact same way as you, that it should be special, difference is I'm a woman.

As for my friends more than 50% of them stayed virgins for the first 2 years of university aswell, and it only changed when started dating (serious relationships).

What I mean by this is that not ALL students at college/uni are wild animals mating lol. Many are very focoused on their studies, their future, and maybe even worried about other issues, who knows.

My advice here is for you to choose very well your friendships when you go. You'll be knowing all kinds of people, and will be hard for you to kinda fit in. In the end choose people that share the majority of the same ideals as you, or that at least respect yours.

It's your body, your life, your decision.

I'll say that I find ridiculous that society pressures men to have sex aswell. Just because you're a guy doesn't mean you need to hit every woman on your way. So if you want someone special commit to that.

I wish you the best of luck :) heart

I'm not quite understanding if you want to have sex or not.

On one hand you feel time is ticking and you are going to be more inexperienced when the time comes, but on the other hand you want to wait for someone special.

It would be great to have a twofur and it may happen or it may be kind of lousy and sloppy, who knows.

A friend and coworker of mine (straight male) is going through the same situation. He is so nice, popular, and helpful to everyone but I fear he goes right into the friend zone with women. Stay out of there if you want to be more than friends. But I'm sure it happens on both sides. We talk about it a lot.

I would like to say more, but it probably should be private and I don't know how to contact a member directly.

I was a virgin for a long time, relations with girls did not add up. As a result, I lost my virginity with a girl from the escort and do not regret it.
