Hi all! So basically I just kind of want to let my thoughts out and possibly gain some advice from people :)

Im currently a college student in my 3rd year, and after my last relationship went south I took a break from the whole dating scene for a while. Recently I’ve started it back up in a way, but only through hook ups, and i’ve been doing a lot of just the classic no-strings attached situation with different people for a good 4 months or so now.

It was fun at first! It was liberating, I was having fun, I got to explore my options in college without the baggage of the emotional attachment. But it’s gotten pretty boring lately, it kind of feels like it’s repetitive in a way. The last couple weeks i’ve been finding myself starting to crave the feeling you would feel in relationships you know? But whenever i’m in one I end up getting bored there too. It’s like I really miss that initial “nervous butterflies” honeymoon phase of the relationship where neither of you know what’s in store for you guys and there’s still that “will they won’t they” dynamic happening. I also just really prefer men who I can have a back and forth playful teasing dynamic with, the kind where you guys act like good friends but throw in some sexual tension, you know? I know I can’t be in a relationship right now, I’m just not ready for one and to be honest I’m not really looking for one. I just wish I could be in a classic friends with benefits situation to fit these needs.

There is someone I’ve been hooking up with somewhat regularly who i’ve known for a while now, we’ve probably known of each other since high school and now we attend the same college. We have that same dynamic and the sex is good, but its so inconsistent and it’s not enough for me. So I’m not quite sure what to do! Everyone else i’ve been with I just haven’t been able to find the dynamic i’m looking for with. A lot of them end up getting the wrong impression and end up wanting to get into something serious despite me being crystal clear about what I want/need, and the guy I do have the perfect dynamic with just doesn’t give me the right amount of it. Not sure what to do!! Just needed to get these thoughts out I guess haha.

Any relationship is tough when you are trying to find something that works but also wants to have freedom as well. It sounds that maybe having a chat with them about how you feel and how you see things going with each other might be important.
