Tampons and Sexual Anxiety

I wasn’t sure which thread to go to for this, but I’m 19 and absolutely cannot bring myself to put in a tampon. I never learned how because my parents divorced and so much happened around the first few years I had my period. But now I can still barely stand looking at everything that’s down there. And this has given me so much anxiety during sex as well. I really wanted to have sex and tried with my now-ex, but I had a panic attack because I didn’t realize how petrified I was of the feeling of something inside me. I’m not even sure why I have all this anxiety, and I hate it so much. Could I please get some advice?

I would experiment a bit. I was a virgin at 19 and felt the same exact way. To be honest I "practiced" a bit with a small vibrator and eventually worked my way up to being able to put it inside of me. That way when I had sex I wouldn't be freaked out by the feeling.

Use pads. As for the feeling of something inside you? Don't do it. There are other ways to be intimate.

@ivoryCamp909 I am so sorry you are experiencing this. I can relate as someone who is sort of a late bloomer due to social anxiety and my parents as well. I agree with others to try to experiment a little at home by yourself to sort of give yourself a way to "practice" and see what you like and what is comfortable. I don't know if I'm allowed to say this on 7 cups, but lubricant can help a lot with reducing discomfort. You don't have to wear tampons if you don't want to, but if you want to overcome that fear, you could try looking at videos or diagrams on how to insert them. You can also start with the "lite" kind which are very small.
