I'm 29 and I haven't dated since my 3 year relationship I had that ended then i was 21. I don't know how to start anything with a woman and I feel worried about being toxic by approaching somone as I know being approached gets frustrating to many women. Online dating is not nice at all and I'm not a drinker so I don't go out in town or pubs. How do I meet someone in the right way? Also how likely am I to find a women that doesn't care that I've been single for so long?

Maybe try the gym? Club? , or in my opinion a guy that likes playing with kids/dogs is so attractive lol I’m sure a girl won’t mind that , it’s better than having baby mommas or a criminal record 🤔

I find it funny that you say that as I work with kids and spend most of my time out out my dog lol. Also I do talk to people at the gym but so far every woman I've become friendly with has a husband or bf. Also I've never met anyone in a club who's looking for anything more than a fling. Thank you for you comment

@Burtyburt,

socializing doesn't necessarily involve drinking, or going to pubs. How about being in tune with your true self? Go with the flow, take each day as it comes. If you notice that you start thinking and worrying, or whatever, how about applying mindfulness? Basically, anything that relaxes you, and bring you in a state of being.

Can be very simple, like being aware of breathing, focus on it, start to slowly breathe in and out. Can be anything.

I've been single for a few years, and I was happy with my live. I ran into my wife when I was just being, not looking, no worries about tomorrow. I strongly believe (based on personal observations), that people pick up on energy, and if you are truly being your true self, you might be surprised what might happen. I can tell I most definitely was pleasantly surprised.

And 8 years single? So what?

This is on the line of what my therapist told me like 2 years ago and the thing is I'm very happy, fit and on top of my life. I love myself and I have a good family etc It only starts to hits me when I think damn why am i still single after all this time. My exsperice tells me I've been single because I'm leaving it to fate and I need to be more proactive and I just don't know how to be proactive with dating in a healthy way as I'm inexperienced. It may help to know that I enjoy doing things on my own so I travel on my own etc so maybe that's why km not meeting people through my hobbies much. Thank you for your comment

@Burtyburt I definitely do not recommend approaching women who are strangers to you. If you have a hobby you like you can meet new friends that way and see where things go. Most women tend to prefer that you've chatted at least a little bit as friends before being asked out. We have meetup.com here which is very helpful for hobbies and meeting new people. I don't think you have to share your relationship history right away. You could maybe say something more general like "I haven't dated in a while and am feeling a bit nervous". Sometimes acknowledging that helps ease the tension a little.

Thank you Daydreamer I feel that's really good advice. I think my main issue is I don't meet many people with my hobbies and if I do so far every woman I've met has been in a relationship, I have used meetup but in my area its only people 10 years older or younger than me using it but I should check it out again. Hi! First I admire you for taking that long to just get to know yourself and learn to love yourself a little bit more. To be honest, finding a partner is difficult. Being in a relationship after finding a partner is another difficult thing to do. I think that when you are ready, the right one will come along. If not, i also recommend socializing. Or probably ask some of your friends to introduce you to some of their friends? Not sure if these all make sense.
