Adapting to Life Changes
My mom died of cancer about a year ago and now my dad is diagnosed with cancer and doesn’t have too long according to the doctors. I understand that we all face things like this in life but it sure does feel awful and painful and unique when things like this are up close and personal. When I was young, I used to foolishly think “things like this won’t happen to me.” Then they do, and we have to struggle and adapt.
I guess it just feels strange sometimes when I’m feeling sad, to think that this is the way life is… bittter and sweet. I know life is amazing and worth experiencing, but I just don’t quite understand “the plan” or the reasons for why things are the way they are. I suppose this is all part of the human experience.

I am so sorry for the loss of your mom and now going through this incredibly painful experience with your dad.
I feel your pain. I think losing a parent is one of the most devastating things we go through in life. There is nothing that prepares us for the loss of this foundational figure in our lives.
