Am I doing too little or is he asking too much?

I have been feeling out of sorts lately (I'm exhausted all the time, I've gained a lot of weight, I'm more emotional, I have headaches, etc) and I just can't bring myself to do as much as I could before. I think something is wrong but I have yet to make an appointment with a doctor. I want to know what's going on but I can barely get out of bed most days lately.

On the other hand, my boyfriend is complaining that we aren't seeing each other enough, especially before he leaves for a month to visit family. He wants to us to spend as much time together as possible before he goes but right now that feels like a lot. He doesn't seem to understand that I want to stay home.

I know he's trying to compromise and think of activities that don't require much effort like movie dates but even that sounds exhausting.

I feel like I'm explaining over and over that I'm not feeling well but he isn't hearing me. I think he's asking too much from me right now... Or am I the one being difficult? Should I be pushing myself to meet these compromises for him?

Hi! Sorry you're struggling with this! I don't think I can really give you the answer you're looking for though - I don't really know you and I don't know him!

But I can say I've been on both sides of this; I can see where you're coming from and I can see where he's coming from. It's not easy!

I wonder if there's a way you can try and meet each other halfway. Perhaps if movie dates are too exhausting, could you try a coffee? Or just sitting at the beach and park for a little bit and chatting? Or maybe he could come over to yours and watch movies?

It can also help to try and chat with him a little more. Maybe if you haven't already, you can let him know what it is you're feeling and what's going through your mind rather than just saying no. He might even be able to give you the support you need so you can go and see your Doctor.
