Avoidant attachment style in relationships.

Does anyone here have an avoidant attachment style in relationships or has a partner who is so? I think my partner is and it is causing a lot of tension and stress in the relationship, especially since I tend to veer towards anxious attachment. I am wondering how you cope or how you learn to communicate your needs and spend time together?

I think I was in the same situation, as I am the anxious one and they were quite avoidant. I'm posting here both to watch for replies you get, but also to say to really fight the anxious urge as much as possible. Try to be calm and let things flow. It will go against your nature, but gets a bit easier as time progresses and you see they aren't going to run out the door when you turn your back. I did not realize the attachment styles when I was in the thick of my relationship and issues, if I had, I would have stopped and thought more about certain large decisions I made, and how those two styles can be like oil and water at times. I think the very fact you recoginize that, puts you ahead of the game, since you can now be more thoughtful on your actions and their actions, and be mindful of them.
