Broken friendship
Me and my friend since kindergarten have recently stopped talking as much as we normally do. We've had several issues in the past and now it's up to me to decide whether or not to continue with the friendship. I don't want to lose her as a friend but honestly I don't really feel the same about her. I don't feel any emotions towards her and it feels like I dont even care about her. This could've arose from all her misunderstandings and inability to realize I've grown up and she hasn't matured at all but I just don't really want to be her friend anymore because it was too tiring to keep the relationship going. I don't know if I just answered my own question but I just want to know if the relationship is worth trying to rebuild or not... I just don't know what I want to do.
Unfortunately that's how life goes sometimes. We like to think everyone is on the same track as us, but that's not really the case. As people mature, they decide which paths in life to take. These paths may diverge and lose sight of each other, but they may also cross later down the road.
That's why it's so rare that childhood friends continue that level of friendship into adulthood. At certain parts of your life, you'll want to reinvent yourself or at least make a change. It would be nice if our friends would follow our lead on that, but then life would be boring and predictable. To answer your question, I think you should follow your gut.
Best wishes, Cain
