Feeling stuck in a rut
I'm a 24yo female. My husband just turned 30, we have been married for 1 1/2 years and have an 8 month old son together. Since I just turned 24 in January I keep thinking about where I'm at in my life. I'm married with a house and I stay home with my baby. I wouldn't change my life at all but I think it's starting to get to me that I can't get out and be the young person I want to be sometimes. I'm not a party girl but I genuinely feel like I'm missing out on good times eventhough my friends don't party either. My husband partied a lot at my age so I get extremely jealous when him and his buddies reminisce. Is there a way to find balance without being a bad wife and mother? I don't think my husband understands. It's not like I want to go get drunk and slopy but I just want to let loose but I feel like as a mom that I cant. Neither of my 2 girlfriends have kids or even boyfriends. Advice???
@ImTheirMomFriend You can totally achieve that balance! Letting your partner know how you feel is a great idea in terms of receiving a little support. You are young and you are a mom, it's totally okay to allow yourself to have a break! He had these years to have fun you're right, it's only natural to feel like you are missing out, especially when he talks about it with his friends. You are completely entitled to some fun too without being considered a 'bad mom' or a 'bad wife'. You are seriously doing a great job! If you would like to chat some more, feel free to message me directly. Take care! xo
@calidescopeheart Thank you for the support. I talked to my husband and made plans with my friend to go away overnight with my friends. I'm excited to get out and have a good time.
@ImTheirMomFriend I'm so glad it is working out for you. Genuinely happy for you. Enjoy your little time away :)
been honest and expressing your feelings is the best thing you need to find a balance and have some time for yourself also :) you deserve it
@ImTheirMomFriend You should just take control. Tell your husband you are planning a date night on Friday or Saturday, then find a sitter and make plans to do what you want! Plan a night with your husband that includes dancing and doing the things you love. You must do this every single week. Date nights are imperative to keeping a relationship healthy, especially when you have young kids. Or switch up - take turns every other week planning fun date nights. Some can include other couples, some should be just the two of you so you have a chance to be flirty and have fun - remember why you fell in love. Don't wait for him to plan something - most men aren't very good at that. And most men want to make their woman happy, so show him what makes you happy.
